Mine Countermeasures (MCM) is an application supporting the broader missions of Homeland Defense (HLD) and Anti-Terrorism / Force Protection (AT/FP). MCM operational elements include surveillance, detection, classification, identification, and prosecution of mines and other improvised explosive devices. These devices may be located along shipping lanes, attached to ship hulls, piers, and other sub-surface structures.
The VideoRay Pro 4 ROV system is a mobile, rapid response tool in the MCM toolkit, capable of providing operators with a sonar image to assist in locating the explosive, along with a high resolution, real-time visual image of the device from which EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) experts can begin the process of defusing the explosive or blow it in place (BIP).
The VideoRay Pro 4 Military ROV systems have the ability to autonomously search, detect, and identify marked or unmarked targets with the addition of an option totally unique to VideoRay and not available on any other competeing small inspection class ROV systems. VideoRay CoPilot and VideoRay Sonar CoPilot are two autonomous navigation and autonomous control systems which incorporate SeeByte software - the world's leader in awareness control software for unmanned vehicles, Teledyne Explorer DVLs (Doppler Velocity Logs) to assist with Dynamic Positioning and navigation, and BlueView P900 series multibeam sonars (with the Sonar CoPilot) for target acqusition and one click "automatic go to target" capability in low visibility environments.
The VideoRay Smart Tether Non-Acoustic Positioning System is another unique technology to VideoRay alone which offers the ability for operators to maintain navigational awareness while remaining several hundred yards apart from the business end of the threat. If needed, the tether also provides a direct line for a diver to arrive onsite to further prosecute the threat. Or alternatively the real-time image of the threat would allow EOD technicians to view and classify the threat. The manipulator arm may assist the operator in attaching charges to an object from a safe distance.
VideoRay’s remote operator and command and control capability can assist in providing real-time evaluation and dissemination of intelligence information to Command and Control personnel that are not co-located with the VideoRay operator.
VideoRay operators have participated in both mine countermeasures and port security exercises worldwide in support of detecting, locating and classifying targets.
