The safety and security of ports, harbors, bridges, and vessels is a top priority for Homeland Security and Homeland Defense. Proven with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, state police and marine patrol operators, VideoRay is a portable, affordable system that can be deployed in minutes - transported and operated by one person. Underwater security sweeps of ship hulls and piers can be performed quickly, reliably, and independent of or in conjunction with divers.

VideoRay operators worldwide have reported locating, identifying, and removing drugs, and other contraband from vessel hulls, port and harbor structures and bottoms. VideoRay ROVs have played a large role in the port security arena as one of the USCG Maritime Safety and Security Team’s rapid deployable assets.

VideoRay is a vital tool to enhance the safety factor for dive teams performing port security missions. Strong current and contaminated water indications may prevent divers from operating and require the use of VideoRay. Additionally, VideoRay is often used as the first asset in the water to assess the underwater situation and to lead the divers directly to the area of interest. This saves the divers precious time and enhances the overall safety and timeliness of the dive.

VideoRay’s position as the world standard for underwater inspection in port security is the result of the maintenance of our technological lead with sonars, positioning systems, sensors, thruster power, usability, reliability, and such. Customer support and service are equally important. Response to technical or repair questions must be measured in minutes, not days. Training needs to be relevant, on location, and appropriate to mission requirements. And – most importantly – the equipment needs to do the job the first time, every time it is deployed.

Typical VideoRay Port Security missions:

  • Underwater Shiphull Survey
  • Pier and Bulkhead Surveys
  • Bridge and Dam Surveys
  • Energy Infrastructure Surveys (i.e. oil platforms, nuclear power plants)
  • Underwater Diver Detection and Classification
  • Recovery or Repair of Underwater Structures
