SEPTEMBER 18, 2019 - VideoRay Pro 5 Used to Recover Missing Boater in Canada

For the second time since acquiring the VideoRay Pro 5, the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART) used the unit to conduct a successful underwater recovery, this time in the Whiteshell River in Manitoba, where a 49-year-old man went missing while harvesting wild rice in an airboat. HEART had deployed the VideoRay Pro 5 earlier in the summer to recover a victim during an underwater search.

During the Manitoba recovery operation, authorities first worked with private boaters to search the shoreline and surrounding water but couldn't locate the victim. The search continued over several days, with HEART joining in and deploying the VideoRay Pro 5. Once in the water, it only took the Pro 5 a few hours to locate the victim.

HEART posted on its Facebook page that the Pro 5 was equipped with multi-beam sonar to "successfully locate and recover the drowning victim."

The VideoRay Pro 5 is the latest generation of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) that is designed for speed and efficiency. Compared to previous models, the Pro 5 has more thrust, longer tether lengths, higher resolution video, and the advantages of the MSS modular systems.
