Manufacturing Engineering & Quality Manager

We are looking for a motivated and reliable experienced Manufacturing Engineering & Quality Manager to join VideoRay’s team!

Position Description: The Manufacturing Engineering & Quality Manager’s responsibilities include designing quality standards; inspecting materials, equipment, processes, and products; developing quality control systems; and owns the corrective action process. This position will report to the Director of Operations, and will have direct managerial responsibilities of QC technicians, and potentially other Manufacturing Engineers in the future.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and performs inspections of raw materials (IQC), WIP (in-line QC), and finished products (FAT) applying appropriate quality assurance testing methods.
  • Identifies the root cause of quality problems, and coordinates modifications and/or other corrective actions.
  • Determines quality metrics for manufacturing procedures and offers technical guidance and support in response to quality testing and analysis.
  • Reviews Testing, Quality and Manufacturing documentation (including but not limited to engineering drawings, production work instructions and QC checklists) and ensures they are maintained accurately.
  • Ensures contract compliance by reviewing and approving quality requirements for supplier purchase orders, manufacturing, and other related services.
  • Owns the entire process of driving supplier corrective actions and associated documentation (SCARs).
  • Audits factory systems and ensures compliance based on ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  • Manage activities and budgets for factory wide continuous improvement projects aimed at cost reduction, process flow simplification, unit process efficiency improvement, productivity improvement and other related areas.
  • Coordinates with representatives from various functional groups assigned to the product or program including but not limited to Design Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Inventory control, Sales, and Finance.
  • Supervise inspectors, technicians and other staff (as needed) and provide guidance and feedback, mentor team members in Manufacturing Engineering and Quality competencies, processes, and lean concepts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Quality), or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role.
  • Experience coding and using QA software tools and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly and component drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications.
  • In-depth understanding of technical documentation
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Capacity to work independently from general supervision (must be self-motivated once given direction/guidance)
  • Some travel to other locations and/or suppliers maybe required as needed.

 

Bonus Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in physics, or Engineering (Ocean, Mechanical, Electrical, Quality), or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in electronic assembly operations
  • Demonstrated experience with owning and driving multi-year cost saving and/or quality improvement projects.
  • Prior experience and/or certified with using with 5S/Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Additional certifications in Quality Assurance/Management

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.  The employee may occasionally need to lift product that can weight >50 lbs.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
