This month, EIVA is offering a free trial of its NaviSuite Mobula ROV autonomous control software for the VideoRay Defender (see below for details). This software represents an evolutionary expansion of vehicle control autonomy (features like auto heading, go to location, etc.) to more advanced task- and job-related autonomy. Rather than placing waypoints and having the vehicle fly the defined course, the vehicle is assigned a task, such as, inspect a pier wall. Additionally, the autonomy extends beyond the operating phase and facilitates the report generation process.
This is big news, and coupled with the latest “perception” sensors and on-board AI processors available now, we are passing through the gates of revolutionary changes in our industry. ROVs will be programmed to do a job with little input about how to do it. The ROV will process data about its surroundings in order to navigate within that space, classify what it encounters as relevant to its task or not, perform inspection and/or manipulative tasks to complete its objectives, and report on its mission. For recurring jobs, “resident” systems will remove the need for operators to even be present on-site. VideoRay is poised to lead this revolution – and the Defender platform is widely recognized as the go-to vehicle for many projects already funded and underway. And if larger payloads and more power are required, the VersaRay is ready to step in.
These are exciting times indeed! What are your thoughts?

Mastering Autonomous Control – Using Jog Commands and Waypoints
10am – 10:30am EDT
Arely Hernandez, VideoRay
Jog commands and waypoints are semi-autonomous controls in the Greensea’s EOD and Professional Workspace software. Understanding how they function and when they should be used can be crucial for complex missions. This presentation will be a deep dive into the subtleties, tips and tricks for using these features. Please join us for this Insights Presentation by Arely Hernandez as she presents Mastering Autonomous Control – Using Jog Commands and Waypoints

Greensea Mission Tips
How can you start a mission?
From the Mission Tab, select the mission and click on the Execute button
Right click on a waypoint and select Go to Waypoint
How can you stop a mission?
Displacing the horizontal motion joystick will stop the vehicle at its current location (Emergency Stop)
Click the Hold button to “pause” the mission when it achieves the next waypoint.
Overriding waypoint locks
Manually adjusting the speed (slider), heading (joystick yaw control) or depth (vertical thrust control) during a mission will disable the corresponding lock automatically, or you can click a lock to enable/disable it.
Editing waypoints while flying a mission
You can move a waypoint (or several as a group) even while the mission is executing.
The jog or bump controls can also be used to move the active waypoint.

Operator Tip of the Month – Lessons from the field
A: Yes, trade-ins are accepted on purchases of new systems. Trade-in value depends upon the system to be purchased, and the age and condition of the trade-in system and accessories included with it.
